Matthew O'Hara

Doctor of Physical Therapy

BIO

Matthew grew up in Binghamton, NY, where he developed a love for sports and competition at an early age. He played football, basketball, and ran track throughout high school before continuing his football career at St. John Fisher University. His experiences as an athlete helped spark an interest in physical therapy and the impact it can have on helping people recover, perform, and reach their goals.

After earning his Bachelor's degree from St. John Fisher University, Matthew went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston. He has a strong interest in orthopedic rehabilitation, particularly treating knee, shoulder, ankle, and hip conditions. What motivates him most as a physical therapist is helping patients achieve goals they may not have thought were possible and guiding them through milestones that improve their quality of life.

One unique part of Matthew's journey is that he was once a patient at BURD Physical Therapy himself. While playing football in college, he worked with Chelsea Burdick during his rehabilitation when BURD was still located in its original Brighton office. Years later, he is proud to be part of the same team that helped him as an athlete.

Now living in Webster, NY, Matthew enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Ally, whom he will marry next year. Outside the clinic, he enjoys skiing, traveling, and finding any excuse to visit a warm destination or the beach. Some of his favorite places to visit include Washington, D.C. and Myrtle Beach. A devoted sports fan, Matthew cheers for the Miami Dolphins and Boston Celtics, and when he's not watching sports, you'll likely find him listening to music or rewatching his favorite movie, Remember the Titans.
