Typically people think of the doctor/patient relationship in regards to a primary care physician or a surgeon. However, it also relates to physical therapy too! Having trust in the person caring for your physical well being is vital to the comfort level and stability of treatment.
A 2011 article* published in the Physical Therapy Journal found that overall a high percentage of patients (68% to 91%) reported being satisfied or completely satisfied with their experience in outpatient physical therapy. Three key dimensions of the patient experience were found to be associated with patient satisfaction. These include the interpersonal attributes of the physical therapist, the process of delivering care, and how the care was organized. At BURD we pride ourselves on getting to know the person behind the ailment and we strive to make an impact, not only in our patient's physical lives, but in their mental lives as well! *Hush J, Cameron K, Mackey M.
